Investing in the Future of Our Herd and Yours

SHAWANO, Wis. - Since 1989, Genex Cooperative, Inc. has invested in the future through the GENESIS Cooperative Herd. GENESIS was created to develop high-ranking Holstein females that possess and transmit the genetic characteristics of high profitability.

Today, of the nearly 20,000 cows and heifers genomic tested in North America, GENESIS females dominate the industry rankings for Lifetime Net Merit (LNM), TPI™ and Productive Life. Among the high-ranking GENESIS females are ...

 • The no. 1 LNM and GTPI cow
 • Three of the top eight cows for Productive LifeMOET-Yoyo-C.jpg
 • 10 of the top 50 LNM cows
 • The no. 1 red carrier heifer for GTPI and LNM

The GENESIS females not only rank high genetically, but also must prove their worth in a commercial setting. Working in cooperation with Genex member herds, GENESIS females are tested in an unbiased environment. The GENESIS cows prove their value by sorting themselves to the top of large commercial herds.

These elite females are carefully mated, yielding the next generation of breed-leading CO-OP prefix bulls that will generate more profit for Genex members and customers. The genomic-proven 1HO02848 CO-OP Auden PARKER-ET *TV at +$712 LNM and the industry's no. 2 LNM bull with milking progeny 1HO09167 CO-OP O-STYLE Oman Just-ET *TV are two prime examples of the 20+ GENESIS graduates currently in the active sire lineup.

As Genex President Duane Nelson, a dairy producer from Winthrop, Minn., stated earlier this year at the cooperative's annual meeting, "The GENESIS herd has evolved to be the premier leader in Holstein genetics in the U.S. With a herd of such elite cooperative-owned females, GENESIS' potential is unlimited!"

Earlier this year, the board of directors reviewed the GENESIS program. In viewing GENESIS as a major cooperative advantage, the board gave approval to expand the program and thereby further meet the cooperative mission of providing products and services as effectively as possible to maximize the profitability of members and customers.
