GENEX REVOLVES EQUITY BACK TO MEMBERS

SHAWANO, Wis. - This fall, Genex Cooperative, Inc., a cattle genetics organization, issued two equity payments to member patrons throughout the contiguous United States. Together, the payments totaled over $1.68 million.

"The cooperative's board of directors, supported by producer delegates, authorized the distribution of patronage from 1986 and 1987 as well as the return of 35 percent of the 2010 allocatable earnings," says Larry Romuald, Genex Vice President of Finance.

The profit goals of the cooperative as set forth by the board of directors allow for both equity retirement to the membership and the investment in product development and equipment. The cooperative's membership consists of dairy and beef producers who utilize the organization's products and services and have signed a membership agreement.

"The return of the 2010 equity monies in particular resulted in substantial allotments for a number of members. The patronage was distributed to over 16,150 members in direct proportion to their cooperative purchasing during that year."
