Genex Names Top Genomic Sires Sampled Through Quantum
SHAWANO, Wis. - Genex Cooperative, Inc. offers numerous sires with outstanding genomic evaluations (genetic rankings derived from DNA analysis). Since January, Genex has released over 50 Holstein sires into the active lineup and has sampled many more high genomic sires through the Quantum program.
"The genetic capabilities of these genomic-proven sires make them some of the most sought-after sires in the dairy industry today," stated Steve Schnell, Genex Vice President of Dairy Genetics. "The sires in the current active lineup, as well as those already sampled for future release, are excellent sources for genetic progress within our members' and customers' herds."
Among the future releases purchased and sampled in the first half of 2009, 12 truly stand out for the outstanding genetic credentials, according to Schnell. Therefore, the Genex Dairy Genetics Division would like to recognize these 12 sires and their breeders.

"These 12 sires stand out among a very impressive group of bulls sampled so far this year. They range from +$871 Lifetime Net Merit (LNM) to +$598 and have TPITM values ranging from +2308 to +2016," noted Schnell. "For that, we credit the dairy producers who developed these outstanding sires and their cow families."
A majority of these sires are currently being used as mating sires and are expected to be released into the active lineup in the coming months. CASSINO is currently available. For genetic evaluations on all sires, visit the Genex Web site at www.crinet.com.
