Genex Employees Graduate from Training Program
SHAWANO, Wis. - Genex Cooperative, Inc.'s extensive training program for new employees has prepared seven individuals for full-time employment in the bovine genetics industry and provided practical experience for four fall interns.
John Boyum of Hardyville, Ky., Chris Bollon of Carney, Mich., Soren Henriksen of Platteville, Wis., Craig Bosma of Rock Rapids, Iowa, James Wieser of Hokah, Minn., and Lucas Carvalho of Bloomington, Minn., completed the training program and will begin providing bovine reproduction services to local dairy farms. The graduates will use their knowledge and experience to meet the Genex mission by helping producers improve herd profitability.
Dr. Sher Nadir completed the program as part of his orientation as the cooperative's new reproductive technology specialist within the sire production division.
Sire production intern Derek Hjelm of Glenwood, Minn., completed the course as a requirement of his internship as did Kelsey Fellows of Worthington, Minn., Jarrett Landry of Sulphur, La., and Jessica Lester of Covington, La. Fellows, Landry and Lester interned within the GENESIS MOET (Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer) program.
During their training, all participants completed a series of comprehensive classroom courses and thorough hands-on instruction. The courses focused on bovine genetics, reproduction, reproductive physiology, synchronization programs, business management procedures and Genex programs. The hands-on portion allowed students to apply their training in artificial insemination (A.I.) and estrus detection.
Throughout their careers, these Genex employees will continue to learn the latest in cattle reproduction and A.I. techniques through advanced reproductive training and e-learning.
