Genex now provides a three-generation Jersey mating guide to all members and customers. This quick and easy reference tool provides the most common sire/maternal grandsire combinations as well as the resulting inbreeding level of a mating to any of the active Genex Jersey proven sires or Genex Gem young sires. The mating guide is another useful resource in controlling inbreeding at the farm level.
To read the table, find the sire combination in the left hand column and match it to the Genex sire of interest across the top. The corresponding inbreeding value is the minimum level of inbreeding that would result from the mating, based on the sire's influence. Actual inbreeding levels could be higher once the maternal pedigree is considered. The shaded blocks indicate a mating with a minimum inbreeding level equal to or less than 6%.
